
A petition was deposited before the High Court of Islamabad (IHC) aimed at illegal the anarchic articles published on the X account of the former imprisoned Prime Minister and president of the PTI, Imran Khan.
The petition was deposited by citizen Ghumlam Murtaza Khan through the lawyer of the lawyer Zafarullah. In the plea, the petitioner argued that the activity of the social media of the account of a prisoner sentenced during the incarceration violates the law and should be prohibited.
He asked the court to ask the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to investigate and identify the individual Imran Khans X account operating Imran Khans X. The petition also demanded that the authorities block and delete what he described as malicious criminal tweets, disruptors circulating from the account.
The petitioner also urged the court to issue instructions to the prison superintendent, stressing that a detainee should not be authorized to manage social media accounts during his detention. He argued that such an activity violates not only the rules of the prison, but also undermines constitutional and legal boundaries.
In addition, advocacy has requested that Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) be retained from retweeter or amplifying publications published from the Imran Khans account, as this contributed to the spread of disruptive content.
The High Court of Islamabad is expected to examine the petition, which raises questions on the regulation of political leaders The activity of social media during imprisonment.
