Public Transport Authority opens train lines after ‘partial derailment’ of carriage near Bayswater stationCaleb RuncimanThe West AustralianTue, 18 November 2025 6:51AMCommentsCommentsEmail Caleb Runciman

Several train lines across Perth are back in action but could still be delayed after a carriage carrying passengers derailed on Monday afternoon.

The Airport, Ellenbrook and Midland lines were all cancelled between Perth and Redcliffe, Perth to Morley, and Perth to Bassendean about 3.30pm on Monday.

The incident also caused delays on the Fremantle line and was expected to impact running schedules into the night.

On Tuesday just after 5am, the Public Transport Authority said all lines were running but warned there may be delays.

“Airport, Ellenbrook, Midland and Fremantle Lines Services resume,” they said in a statement posted to X.

“Passengers may experience minor delays as trains return to the normal timetable.”

A “technical issue” was causing further delays to the running schedule of trains on the Ellenbrook and Mandurah lines on Tuesday morning.

The lines were initially shut down after a train carriage derailed and got stuck between two rail tracks near the Bayswater station on the Airport line about 3.30pm on Monday.

A PTA spokeswoman previously said: “There has been a service disruption as two bogies (wheel undercarriage) from a railcar have partially come off the tracks while departing Bayswater station at low speed this afternoon.”

“The train has come to a stop with all passengers safely evacuated.”

Replacement buses were organised at the affected train lines.
