Recently, I came across a post from Reddit user Triceline on the popular Ask Reddit page wherein they asked, “What’s the most overpriced thing people buy just to flex?” and OMG, reading the answers was kinda cathartic. I’m curious to see if people agree with these, so I thought I’d share! Here are some of the best answers:
1. “Luxury clothing for babies. They’ll grow out of those $600 Fendi baby booties before they can even figure out how to not use every piece of furniture as a Kleenex. Only the parents who fuss too much care.”

2. “Food topped with edible gold. I’ve heard that it has no flavor.”

“I’ve had gold leaf steak tartar and ice cream. It looks cool. You feel rich. It has no flavor at all. Doesn’t even make your poop sparkle. Not worth it.”

— u/shoogshoog
“I have to admit, when I was 16, back in 1967, I used to think wearing a T-shirt like that was really cool. Then, when I started to buy my own clothes, I realized: Why am I spending extra money to advertise a shirt for some other company? They should be paying me for doing that.’ That’s the last time I ever bought a shirt with anything written on it.”

In some cases, it’s a flex, but honestly, I have watches that nobody even knows are expensive, which I enjoy even more than the ‘obvious’ ones. It’s weird.”
