The Pelham Civic Association’s annual Pelham Half Marathon and 10K will return Saturday morning, November 29, on Thanksgiving weekend. In 2024 the event attracted nearly 1000 runners from Pelham, the NYC metro area, and beyond, and current registrations are 30 percent ahead of last year’s, with more than 500 runners already signed up.
On courses certified with USA Track & Field, the races start and finish on Harmon Avenue next to the Gazebo and take runners through both Pelham villages. The half marathon stretches from as far north as Chester Park and as far south as Shore Park.
The event also will feature a “1K Kids Fun Run,” a non-competitive event introduced last year for kids aged 6 to 12, on Harmon Avenue and Benedict Place.
Officials from the Town of Pelham, Village of Pelham Manor, and the Village of Pelham will once again be invited to present all runners with finisher medals.
The races rely on volunteers to support the event. “It’s a real community effort,” said race director Jim Arden. “The Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts are in charge of several water and Gatorade stations on the course and at the finish line. Their enthusiasm helps spur on the runners.” Race organizer Todd Cross noted that some volunteers come back each year. “We are still in need of volunteers, particularly Course Marshals,” he said. “We have a lot of turns to fit a half marathon into our small town, and Course Marshals help make sure our runners follow the signs and stay on course.”
Volunteers can sign up at PelhamHalf.org/volunteer. Pelham students earn service hours, and families with younger children can be a big help as well.
Race proceeds benefit the Pelham Civic Association’s “Help a Child, Change a Life” program. This program provides students in Pelham schools with learning support, skill enrichment experiences, and social support services to help them reach their full potential.
The lead sponsor and presenter of the 2025 Pelham Half Marathon and 10K is Hospital for Special Surgery-Westchester. Other sponsors are Kiami 411, Runwise, Rise Psychiatry, Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, Meridian Risk Management, LogoTags, Compass Realty, The Body Blueprint, and Mercedes of New Rochelle. Sponsorships are still available.
