Nashville Police are searching for another hit-and-run driver after a pedestrian was left in critical condition during the early morning hours of Sept. 11.
Police responded to the intersection at Fourth Avenue and Korean Veteran Boulevard at about 3:20 a.m.
Investigators said a man was in the crosswalk on Fourth Avenue when he was hit by a dark-colored SUV. The man was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Pedestrian crashes in Nashville this year
At least 13 pedestrians, including the man from this case, have been hit by cars this year, according to press releases from the Metro Nashville Police Department. There were none reported in August, but two thirds of the cases happened in June and July, files show.
Nine of the 13 cases have been fatal, and eight cases were hit-and-runs.
Germantown residents rallied after Dorothy “Dot” Dobbins, 77, was hit and killed by a Chevrolet Silverado driven by country music singer Conner Smith June 8. Neighbors spent hours at the crosswalk escorting pedestrians and bicyclists as they carried large signs urging drivers to yield.
New signs were placed to further identify the crosswalk while foliage along the road blocking a driver’s view of pedestrians was removed.
Then in August a cyclist was injured at the same intersection in a hit-and-run.
