PayPal Holdings Inc. on Monday introduced “Pay with Crypto,” a new checkout option that will let U.S. merchants accept more than 100 digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ether and the stablecoin USDT, according to reports from Fortune and Bloomberg.
The service, expected to begin rolling out in the coming weeks, allows customers to pay through popular wallets such as Coinbase, MetaMask and OKX. PayPal said payments will convert instantly into U.S. dollars or stablecoins before reaching the seller, a feature designed to shield merchants from price volatility and streamline settlement.
By handling conversion internally, PayPal estimates it can cut processing costs by as much as 90 % compared with traditional card fees, while broadening the reach of crypto payments across its merchant network.
