Major exchange Cboe announced that it will offer a new investment vehicle for Bitcoin and Ethereum. These products, called perpetual futures contracts, are scheduled to launch on December 15, 2025.
These contracts will be valid for a full 10 years and automatically updated daily in cash. This will allow investors to be exposed to price movements for extended periods without having to regularly renew their positions.
This new system is considered particularly important for large investors, as previously similar contracts were typically held on overseas platforms with limited oversight. Cboe, however, states that it will offer these products in a fully government-supervised, transparent, and secure environment. All transactions will be conducted through a government-controlled official clearinghouse. This aims to reduce potential conflicts between parties and ensure a safer investment process.
The contracts’ prices will be determined by the real-time market value of Bitcoin and Ethereum. To ensure this alignment, a small cash adjustment will be applied to open positions each day. This ensures the contract price remains consistently close to the real market. This feature facilitates long-term planning for investors and provides a more stable structure for risk management.
Cboe executives believe these new products will fill a major gap for institutions looking to make long-term investments in the cryptocurrency market.
