
The Parksville Curling Club is ready to rock.
The club will kick off its 2025-26 season with the Try Stick Curling event, on Sept. 17 at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. They are free of charge.
Stick curling is an opportunity for those who love the sport but are not able to play the traditional slide delivery curling, to continue to play through this modified method.They can now be standing and use a stick to deliver the rock down the ice.
The sessions is ideal for former curlers returning to the game, people with mobility or balance concerns and anyone who feels nervous about sliding.
A Stick Doctor Clinic will also takes place at the same times as the Try Stick Curling sessions. An instructor will give current stick curlers an opportunity to fine-tune their technique. The sessions are 45 minutes long.
On Sept. 19, the club is again the public the opportunity to try the sport. It is holding its annual Try Curling event, which is free, to take place on Friday, Sept.19 at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 20, the sessions are at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
This is an opportunity for those who want to experience what curling is all about. They can learn the basics from experienced instructors.
Each session is about 45 minutes.
No registration is needed for all the events. Just drop by and take part in the sessions.
You need to bring a clean pair of running shoes for the ice and a helmet if you would like.
The club will provide grippers, delivery sticks and other stuff needed to assist you.
