In a viral Instagram video, a cat owner from Pennsylvania compares the kitten she thought she was getting to the young feline she got instead, and internet users can’t cope with the hilarious differences in the pet’s behavior.
The clip, shared in August under the username @nala.meetsworld, shows the small, gray kitten initially behaving like a little angel, playing quietly to himself, cuddling with his owner and their other cats, and being generally calm and chill. But, according to the poster, this is not the kitty’s true nature, and the second part of the video reveals the reason behind his behavior.
“The kitten I thought I was getting: very cuddly, plays quietly to himself, good with other cats, loves to be petted and held, doesn’t even mind baths, plays well with others. But it turns out … He was just sick,” the caption says, “What happened to my little baby?”
After getting back into shape, the kitten immediately changed personality, and now he is the complete opposite. The poster, 34-year-old Ellen, told Newsweek that her kitten’s name is Earl Grey, and he was found outside in a snowstorm in January with his brother Tommy.
“We weren’t originally going to keep them, but we fell in love with how sweet they are. They are almost 11 months old now and totally crazy,” Ellen said.
Adopting two kittens instead of one has several benefits, despite the extra cost of food and medical care. If you have an older cat, bringing home two kittens can help keep them entertained while giving your older feline more space and time to adjust.
Kittens also learn important behaviors — such as grooming, using the litter-box, and respecting play boundaries — more naturally from one another than from humans.
A solo kitten might become overly mischievous or restless, but a pair can burn off energy together, making them easier to manage. Adopting two at the same time can also help you avoid the challenges of introducing a second adult cat later on, since adult felines who haven’t been socialized may not easily accept new companions.
Plus, two kittens offer each other constant companionship, which is especially valuable if you are away from home for long periods. They keep each other entertained and emotionally supported, leading to happier, more balanced pets and easing the pressure on your time and attention.
The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 10 million views and more than 1 million likes on the platform.
One user, Soltronus, commented: “Congratulations, you healed the warrior back to health.”

Creature_o_the_night added: “Welcome to kitty terrible twos. Your sweet little angel will terrorize your home for at least a year. But you are in for some hilarious times and all the kitty we one could want.”
