OpenAI, whose ChatGPT app is extremely popular in the crypto community, faces an outage.
OpenAI, the artificial intelligence platform, has been facing a massive outage since 2:46 PM EDT, Downdetector shared on Oct. 6.
ChatGPT, the AI chatbot launched by OpenAI, has become a popular tool within the crypto community over the years. Users have been using it to understand what the crypto revolution is all about, break down blockchain technology, and even predict the future prices of leading crypto assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP.
OpenAI makes major announcements
The outage comes on a day that the AI company announced a 6-GW partnership with AMD (Nasdaq: AMD) to power its next-gen AI infrastructure across multiple generations of AMD Instinct GPUs.
“This partnership is a major step in building the compute capacity needed to realize AI’s full potential,” said Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI. “AMD’s leadership in high-performance chips will enable us to accelerate progress and bring the benefits of advanced AI to everyone faster.”
OpenAI also shared another major announcement later in the day, “You can now chat with apps in ChatGPT.” Users outside of the EU can use apps like Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow within the ChatGPT app itself.
Founded in 2015, OpenAI created shockwaves across the globe with the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022 and thereby catalysed widespread interest in generative AI.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is also well-known for the World (WLD), the cryptocurrency supporting the Worldcoin blockchain project that uses iris scanning for identity verification and crypto ecosystem access.
