The OnePlus 15R battery could be even bigger than the flagship OnePlus 15. OnePlus confirmed on Weibo that its Chinese Ace 6T model packs a massive 8,300mAh battery. However, there’s uncertainty about whether that capacity will carry over to the global OnePlus 15R launch on December 17, 2025.
The confirmed 8,300mAh capacity in the Ace 6T beats the OnePlus 15’s already impressive 7,300mAh battery by a significant margin. That’s roughly 14% more capacity in what’s supposed to be the more affordable model. For context, the OnePlus 15R battery would dwarf most flagships. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra tops out at 5,000mAh and iPhone 17 Pro Max at around 5,088mAh.
The catch is due to international shipping regulations and regional certification requirements, it might force OnePlus to trim the OnePlus 15R battery for global markets. Some reports suggest the international version could land anywhere from 7,000mAh to 7,800mAh. That would still be competitive but wouldn’t quite match the Chinese variant’s impressive capacity.
Regardless of final capacity, the OnePlus 15R is shaping up as a battery powerhouse. Earlier leaks pointed to a 6.72-inch 1.5K OLED display running at 165Hz, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, up to 12GB RAM, and 100-120W wired charging. The phone also boasts IP66/68/69/69K durability ratings, making it one of the toughest mid-range devices.
The silicon-carbon battery technology enables this massive capacity without adding excessive bulk. The same tech used in the OnePlus 15’s Glacier Battery allows for higher energy density than traditional lithium-ion cells. Even if the global OnePlus 15R battery gets downsized to around 7,800mAh, you’re still looking at potential multi-day usage for moderate users.
For heavy users who game, stream video, or travel frequently, the OnePlus 15R battery promises less charging anxiety compared to most flagships. Paired with that 165Hz display and vapor cooling system, it positions the 15R as a value pick for battery-focused buyers who don’t want to pay flagship prices. The real question is whether OnePlus will prioritize maximum capacity or play it safe with global regulations.
