OnePlus is currently on a hype spree for its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15. And based on the visual teasers and bits of information that the company has dropped so far, this one is going to be an exciting device for a lot of reasons.

The next flagship from OnePlus is getting a design refresh, with a faster silicon under the hood. But it appears that the phone won’t be a minor generation-over-generation upgrade. On the contrary, leaks paint the picture of a device that upgrades everything from the battery and cooling stack to the display architecture. Let’s dive right into all the official revelations, rumors, and speculations covering the OnePlus 15.

OnePlus 15: Latest news

Ever since OnePlus dropped the first teasers, the upcoming phone has constantly been the center of rumors and speculations. Here’s some of our most recent coverage to get you up to speed:

OnePlus 15 could run circles around Apple, Google, and Samsung: They’ve teamed up with a company called BOE to create the world’s first-ever high-resolution phone display with a ridiculously fast 165Hz refresh rate, which means everything will look incredibly smooth. OnePlus 15 teased as a greater generational leap than iPhone 17 or Galaxy S25: OnePlus utilized a high-voltage plasma process to apply a ceramic coat on the metallic chassis of the phone. The result is a material that is over three times as sturdy as aluminum and 1.3 times as tough as titanium. The aerospace-grade Micro-Arc Oxidation (MAO) layer covers not only the mid-frame, but also the camera island, housing a triple lens array. You already know what it looks like, now we might know the OnePlus 15 launch date: The OnePlus 15 might make its international debut on November 13, and it might be available in India on the same day as launch OnePlus 15 tipped for massive advantage over iPhone 17 and Google Pixel 10: The OnePlus 15 will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset – something which has been confirmed for the handset, which is said to be significantly faster than the Tensor processor inside Pixel smartphones. Release date and price rumors

So far, OnePlus hasn’t said anything about the release date of its upcoming phone. However, there are a few speculations floating around, claiming that the phone will be revealed in China towards the end of October. This will be followed by a wider launch for the international markets.

According to a 91Mobiles report, which cites an anonymous industry insider, the phone will be launched in India on November 13. The report further adds that it will be a global launch event. We have yet to come across any credible leaks regarding the phone’s asking price.

According to Financial Express, it will cost between INR 70,000 and 75,000, which translates to $793-$850. The pricing for the US market could be higher, but it’s hard to predict at the moment owing to the tariff situation. Also, it’s worth pointing out that the OnePlus 13 landed in US stores carrying a price tag of $899. So, it’s unlikely its successor will dip below that level.

Design and display

The aesthetics are going to be a key talking point on the OnePlus 15. At first glance, the fundamental design appears particularly close to the OnePlus 13s (aka 13T), but that’s where the similarities end. On its next flagship, the company is serving a sand dune-inspired color and surface.

Of particular mention is the in-house sandblasted nano-ceramic texture that is said to be more resistant to fading, discoloration, and also fares better at heat dissipation. OnePlus said it developed the whole process in-house to achieve the unique finish, and as you can see in the image, it almost has a cardboard-like matte surface texture.

Over the past couple of weeks, OnePlus (and its executive) has stirred a lot of hype around the upcoming phone and the upgrades that it brings to the table. Among them is an OLED screen sourced from BOE that reaches an astounding 165Hz refresh rate. To put that into perspective, the best phones out there — such as the Google Pixel 10 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra — have only managed to touch 120Hz.

On the more practical side of things, you likely won’t be able to feel the difference between a 120Hz and a 165Hz panel during day-to-day usage. Coming back to the upgrades, OnePlus claims that the bezels on its next “flagship killer” are only 1.15 millimeters thin.

The display also integrates hardware-level blue light filtering, PWM flicker-free viewing, and brightness adjustment. OnePlus also claims that it is pushing AI-powered display intelligence features that will automatically adjust screen color temperature, tell users to maintain a distance between the panel and their eyes, and even blink if they’ve been staring for too long.

The OnePlus 15 will also assist with motion sickness, and it seems the premise is similar to the Vehicle Motion Cues system that is available on iPhones. OnePlus says this feature is ideal for scenarios when users are in a moving vehicle, and notes that the tech can help bring down the chances of motion-induced sickness by 51% on the phone.

The AI-powered display optimizations will also kick into action when users are playing games to reduce the strain on their eyes. And when the surroundings get dark, the display will reduce its brightness levels to 1 nit.

As far as the build goes, leaks suggest that it will be IP69 tier, the strongest ingress protection that you can currently get on a mainstream smartphone out there. Authentication will reportedly be handled by an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor.

So far, OnePlus has only showcased the phone in its sand dune-inspired color. But if rumors are to be believed, black and purple color options could also be on the table. As far as memory configurations go, the base model will offer 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The top-end trim could climb up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

That’s plenty, though it’s not quite in the same league as the iPhone 17 Pro, which is now available in a 2TB storage variant, if you’re willing to spend close to two thousand dollars. OnePlus has reportedly upgraded the internal cooling system and improved the screen sensitivity for scenarios when the hands are wet.

Cameras

So far, OnePlus hasn’t shared any hardware-level details about the cameras on its next flagship. So far, what we know is that the Hasselblad camera partnership is no longer in space. Instead, the company has developed an in-house LUMO camera engine and has claimed that the enhancements will take portrait capture to the next level.

An exhaustive leak post on Weibo claims that the OnePlus 15 will feature three 50-megapixel camera sensors at the back. The optical and ultrawide sensors are reportedly supplied by Samsung, while the main camera relies on the Sony LYT-700 imaging sensor.

As far as the camera features go, we are yet to hear anything straight from OnePlus regarding the phone’s photography and video capture chops. But given how closely OnePlus works with its sister company, Oppo, when it comes to sharing technology, we can take a few educated guesses.

Based on the official listing of the upcoming Oppo Find X9 series phone on the company’s online storefront, the OnePlus 15 should get support for up to 8K video capture and an updated processing pipeline to produce better portrait shots of human subjects.

Power and battery

OnePlus has confirmed that it will deploy Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite silicon on the phone. The new mobile processor from Qualcomm relies on the third-generation Oryon cores that boost the CPU performance and efficiency by 20% and 35%, respectively. The onboard graphics engine is now 23% faster, while the NPU tasked with AI processing also brings a 37% boost in performance to the table.

Going a step further, the OnePlus 15 will also come equipped with an in-house dedicated gaming core. The company claims that the performance edge offered by this dedicated chip makes the phone the first in the industry to touch 165fps frame rate in games, such as League of Legends and Call of Duty: Mobile.

It’s worth keeping in mind that not all games are going to natively take advantage of that 165Hz screen and reach all the way up to 165fps. It would depend on the developer whether they choose to enable it in the first place, or if OnePlus has a partnership in place.

The company says it is pushing a GPU-driven frame rendering system that reaches “PC-level” graphics fidelity, and also deploying the NPU to assist with the whole pipeline. OnePlus hasn’t shared any benchmarks so far, but says the OnePlus 15 is claimed to maintain an impressive peak performance stability and keep fluctuations limited to the 1% range.

A leak account on China’s Weibo social platform claims that the OnePlus 15 will come equipped with a massive 7,300 mAh battery. Assuming that turns out to be true, it would be a sizeable upgrade over the 6,000 mAh battery powering the OnePlus 13. But it seems the next flagship from OnePlus will make progress in the charging speeds, as well.

The aforementioned leak account also mentioned support for 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. To put that into perspective, neither Apple nor Samsung goes past the 50W charging pace on their current crop of phones — even in wired mode. It would be interesting to see if native Qi2 support with magnetic charging will be a part of the package.
