Fans and friends of boxing legend Ricky Hatton have been paying tribute after his death aged 46.
The British boxing legend held multiple world championships during his career, in the light-welterweight division, and one at welterweight.
Reports of Hatton’s death followed confirmation from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) that a body had been found at the boxers address.
A GMP spokesperson said: “Officers were called by a member of the public to attend Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6:45am today where they found the body of a 46-year-old man.
“There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
Fans of Hatton have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to share tributes to the late boxer.
Fellow boxing star, Amir Khan, said that “one of Britain’s greatest” was lost today, sharing: “Today we lost not only one of Britain’s greatest boxers, but a friend, a mentor, a warrior, Ricky Hatton”.
Khan added: “Ricky, thank you for everything. For your fights, your moments of glory, your grit. Thank you for pushing us, showing us what’s possible”.
Boxing News said they were “deeply saddened” by Hatton’s passing, writing: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of British boxing royalty Ricky Hatton.
“A relentless pressure fighter and spiteful body puncher in the ring, Hatton was adored for his charisma and down-to-earth character outside of it.
“He will be sorely missed.
“Our thoughts are with his loved ones. Rest in peace, Ricky”.
YouTube star, Syndicate, real name Tom, wrote: “Absolutely devastated to see the news of Ricky Hatton passing away”.
