Omid Mohammed, a member of the New Generation Movement faction in the Iraqi Parliament, said on Sunday that the decision to transfer the services of Kurdish teachers in Kirkuk to Baghdad is in its final stage, but the outgoing Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is openly obstructing the process.
Mohammed stated that the handling of teachers in Kirkuk reflects the outdated government’s policies and negatively impacts Kurdish students in the city. Over the past three years, efforts have been made to facilitate the transfer, including two visits to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani and gathering signatures in parliament to support the initiative.
“We know that the outgoing government, led by Masrour Barzani and Qubad Talabani, is preventing the process. The PUK and KDP have agreed not to transfer the teachers to Baghdad, but New Generation Movement continues its efforts,” he said.
He also called on authorities not to send representatives of the PUK and KDP to Baghdad, accusing them of openly obstructing the process. “Punish them, and until New Generation Movement has a minister in the executive branch, promise to improve your future,” Mohammed added.
