A privately-run nursery in the South Lakes has received its fourth consecutive Outstanding from Ofsted.
Penny Bridge Nursery at Greenodd was found to have maintained outstanding across all key areas when inspectors visited in June.
The education provider has retained a judgement of outstanding since May 2012.
The report said: “Children thrive in this imaginative and nurturing learning environment. They form close and trusting relationships with staff, who identify children’s unique needs and provide a warm and welcoming place to learn. Children are very active learners and access resources and activities with the highest levels of enthusiasm.”
Ofsted credited staff as ‘excellent’ role models who have the highest expectations for children’s behaviour.
Inspectors noted an ambitious curriculum that is tailored to meet the individual needs of children, as well as purposeful and highly effective teaching.
“Communication and language is a key focus in the setting. Staff share new vocabulary, ask questions, read stories and take part in role play with children,” the report said.
Children were found to be very independent in their play and immersed in their learning.
“Staff support children’s emotional well-being extremely well and regularly update their knowledge about children’s changing needs. They ask how children like to be served their packed lunch and if children like to rest during the day. In addition, staff help children with changes through discussion or borrowing a book from the ‘worry library’. This helps children to navigate changes in their life, such as a new baby or when a family pet passes away,” Ofsted said.
Manager and Director of Penny Bridge Nursery Annabel Miles said: “We are all absolutely delighted and thrilled with this Ofsted report. This is our 4th consecutive time receiving Outstanding and I am delighted the inspector was able to see what is unique about our setting.
“This fantastic result is down to dedicated, hard working staff who go above and beyond for the children in our care, the inspector recognised the trusting relationships children had with all staff and how staff identify children’s unique needs and provide a warm and welcoming place to learn.
“I am particularly thrilled the inspector recognised the emphasis we place on supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and speech and language as these are areas we place extra emphasis to ensure excellent outcomes for children.”
