
The North Central Zonal Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr . Priscilla Gondoalour, has seek the collaboration and support of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in sensitising the public on policies and programmes of the federal government.
Dr. Priscilla Gondoalour made the appeal in Lokoja, Kogi State during a one day working visit to Kogi state on Friday.
Speaking at a meeting with members of Kogi State NGO Network (KONGONET), the Zonal Coordinator described the role being played by civil society organizations in the development of the nation as critical, imperative and useful.
While calling for their robust working relationship, Dr Gondoalour stressed the need for the CSOs to help build security awareness situation to put Nigerians on alert.
“It is no longer news that insecurity had bedevilled the country. Regrettably the north central zone has been affected badly by the nefarious activities of men of the underworld.
“Therefore, NOA need to collaborate with CSOs being an organizations that have the capacity to get to the people at the grassroots, to help build security awareness with a view to put the people on alert at all times” she stated.
She commended the CSO for all their effort in ensuring that the society becomes a better place for Nigerians and urged them to do more to enable the government achieve it’s desire making the country safe for the people.
Responding, the Chairperson of Kogi NGO Network (KONGONET), Hamza Aliyu praised the Zonal Director for identifying the role of the civil society organizations in nation building, assuring that KONGONET would effectively collaborate with government towards achieving it’s mandates.
“We will continue to sensitize the people on the need for them to come out for the ongoing voters registration exercise especially the citizens at the grassroots where appreciable population resided” he stated.
Earlier in his opening remark, the State Director of NOA, Patrick Edogbonya explained that the visit of the Zonal Director was to meet with the NGOs as partners in progress to move the country forward in the interest of Nigerians.
Similarly, Dr Priscilla Gondolaour, who also extended her visit to the Association of Heads of Federal Establishment (AHFE) in the state, admonished Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to establish modality of creating awareness for people to be acquainted with government policies and programmes.
She pointed out that, the federal government was doing a lot in various sectors especially security awareness and voter registration exercise ahead of 2027 general elections, calling for robust partnership with NOA to achieve the mandate of sensitizing the public on policies and programmes of the government.
In a remark, the Chairman, Association of Heads of Federal Establishment, Gabriel Audu, pledged the association’s readiness to cooperate with the agency in Kogi State particularly in the area of security consciousness and other vital issues that can bring about peaceful coexistence among the people.
