Grupo Santander has started offering a range of new crypto services to German customers with plans to expand elsewhere in Europe.
These new features seamlessly integrate into Openbank, Santander’s digital bank, meeting the requirements outlined by the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulations. Consequently, German customers will now be able to buy and sell the following crypto through Openbank.
Santander plans to expand its crypto services further across Europe in response to customer demand. In a few weeks, customers in Spain will also be able to trade through Openbank. More tokens and the option to trade crypto pairs are also coming.
As one of the largest banks in Europe with over 175 million customers, Santander is well-positioned to lead a new wave of crypto adoption among European clients. If the Openbank scheme succeeds, we could see other major European banks quickly offer retail crypto services.
