Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is scheduled to interview with the New York Giants for their vacant head coaching position, according to multiple reports.
The interview with McCarthy, who spent the past season away from the sidelines after parting ways with the Cowboys following the 2024 season, is set to take place on Tuesday, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The Cowboys compiled a 49-35 record in McCarthy’s five seasons from 2020-24. Tom Landry and Jason Garrett are the only coaches in franchise history with more victories.

After a rough start in his initial season, one conducted in a pandemic along with the loss of starting quarterback Dak Prescott to a broken leg in Week 5, Dallas showed signs of improvement late, finishing a 6-10 season with three wins in the final four weeks.
Dallas then took off, recording three consecutive 12-5 seasons under McCarthy and advancing to the postseason in three straight years for the first time since the franchise’s Super Bowl run in the 1990s. The Cowboys won the NFC East twice in his tenure.

McCarthy, however, was unable to lead the team past the divisional round, a ceiling that has limited the club for 30 years.
He won Super Bowl XLV at AT&T Stadium with the Green Bay Packers over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has a 174-112-2 career coaching record over 18 NFL seasons.
