Paris, January 1 (QNA) – The French automotive industry platform PFA announced Thursday that new car sales continued their decline in 2025 compared to the previous year, registering 1,632,154 registrations, a decrease of 5.02 percent, amid slowing demand.
Data released by the platform today showed that the French automotive market sold approximately 580,000 cars, a decrease of more than a quarter over six years, compared to 2019, the last year before the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to data from AAA Data, a company specializing in automotive market analysis, despite prices beginning to decline by an average of 1.4 percent, cars remain expensive for consumers.
The average price of a gasoline-powered car reached EUR 25,657, a decrease of 4.6 percent, while the average price of an electric car was EUR 42,992, a slight decrease of 0.1 percent. The report noted a growing consumer trend toward long-term leases, with SUVs maintaining a market share of over 50 percent.
Sales of new electric vehicles also saw growth of 12 percent, raising their market share to 20 percent and exceeding 300,000 units sold, supported by government subsidies. (QNA)
