Cartz Udal, Aaron Maniego, Aly Alday, Erika Davis, and Jona Ramos are the newest additions to “Bubble Gang!”
During their guesting on “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on Friday, the newbies shared the things they learned and unlearned from OG “Bubble Gang” member Michael V. and the rest of the cast.
According to Aaron, among the things they unlearned was having a “sense of control” in creating a skit.
“We’re trying to unlearn po ‘yung sense of control kasi in terms of trying to create a skit or trying to make someone laugh meron po kaming set na format po kasi sa utak po namin. ‘Ay ganito ‘yung nakakatawa, ganito dapat, ganito,’ ‘yun ‘yung in-u-unlearn namin,” he shared.
For Jona, she unlearned how to pause when delivering a punchline.
“Yung mag-pause. Ibig ko po sabihin, tulad ng sinabi niya, meron kang alam na banter, jokes, and whatnot, ganiyan, but kailangan mag-p-pause ka kasi aantayin mo ‘yung right timing,” Jona said.
Meanwhile, Aly shared that the Kapuso Comedy Genius was an inspiration for her as she learned the value of humility from him.
“I think he is an inspiration para sa akin because despite being Michael V. po, I saw him as a very humble person na laging maaga, laging very down to earth at nakikisama sa amin,” she said. “I think that is something I learned and I will forever learn kasi that’s humility na very hard to isaloob sa sarili mo. So ‘yun ang natutunan ko.”
As for Erika, she learned how to relax and be natural, as advised by Paolo Contis.
“Actually, this is something I learned recently lang. Medyo ‘yung nerves ko, I was kinda excited. So ina-advice ako ni Paolo Contis na kailangan ko talagang mag-relax minsan,” she said. “Kasi minsan I get too excited and it kinda comes off not natural. So sometimes what I learned is to take a deep breath, in and out, and let all the nerves and all the excitement out so it comes off natural.”
In the same interview, the cast members also shared their audition experience for “Bubble Gang.”
Jona said her audition for the Kapuso gag show was purely accidental.
“Accidental eh. Ito po after ko na malaman kay Madam Diego. Sabi niya nagbabasa daw po siya ng script na ang ‘itim ng tuhod mo’ pero nasa mic,” Jona recalled.
“Nakaharap na po ako. Tapos sabi niya ‘Ang itim ng tuhod mo’ tapos sabi ko ‘Huy sino ‘yun. Hala.’ Gumanon po ako. Tapos sabi niya sige ‘ayan na ‘yung ano mo,'” she added.
Meanwhile, Aaron, who is known for his funny skits on social media, said he saw the audition online and gave it a shot.
“Nakita ko po online ‘yung audition and I wanted to take a shot on it kasi ‘yun din ‘yung ginagawa ko sa social media,” Aaron shared.
Cartz, on the other hand, was influenced by her grandmother to audition.
“Ako po nananahimik lang ako sa social media, kaso tinulak ako ng lola ko na baka ngayon ikaw naman ang pwedeng maging bida,” she quipped.
For Erika, who was already in the showbiz industry before joining “Bubble Gang,” her audition for the show was a “serious” one.
“I’ve been in showbiz now for almost four years. So it’s not my first audition, pero when I heard the auditions for ‘Bubble Gang’ — the prior auditions I did, I never took it seriously — but when I decided to audition for ‘Bubble Gang’ and I saw that they are accepting new talents, I decided why not give it a try,” she shared.
“So when I was accepted for the final audition and [they] gave me a script, I said kailangan ko talaga itong seryosohin,” she added.
Like Erika, Aly had already been an actress for three years when she auditioned for “Bubble Gang” after starring in a music video for the gag show.
“I came from the province and three years ago, kinuha ako dito para mag-artista. I’ve been in the industry for three years and recently kinuha ako sa isang music video,” Aly said.
“Sabi nila, they see a potential in me so they asked me to audition for ‘Bubble Gang’ kasi the music video was for ‘Bubble Gang,'” she continued.
