New Aadhaar App Rolls Out For Android And iOS: Key Features Explained

UIDAI has launched a redesigned Aadhaar app with a faster interface, selective data sharing, profile locking, offline access and support for up to five family profiles on a single device. Check details here.

UIDAI has officially rolled out a brand-new version of the Aadhaar mobile app for Android and iOS users. The update focuses on something most people genuinely care about-speed, simplicity and tighter control over personal data. Whether you use Aadhaar for banking, travel, government services or basic KYC, the new app will help you get things done quickly, at least, that’s what it says! The interface has been fully redesigned. When you open the app, you’ll instantly see your Aadhaar number, photo and address in a cleaner layout. UIDAI says the app now loads faster and runs well even on older smartphones. Also Read: UMANG App Now Required For Generating And Activating EPFO UAN: Here’s How To Use It

Getting started with the revamped app barely takes a minute. After downloading it from Google Play Store or the App Store, you simply enter your Aadhaar number and verify with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Depending on your device, you’ll authenticate using face, fingerprint or a secure PIN. Also Read: Will your Aadhaar card be invalid after June 14? Know the truth

Once the setup is complete, your profile stays saved – you don’t have to log in every time you open the app.

Privacy is one of the biggest upgrades here. You can lock your Aadhaar profile so that your number, photo and address stay hidden unless unlocked with biometrics or a PIN. This is useful when you hand over your phone or need to avoid sharing information unnecessarily.

The app also comes with an activity log, which records when and where your Aadhaar profile was unlocked or accessed. This adds an extra layer of transparency and lets you keep a close check on your digital identity.

One helpful addition is selective data sharing. Instead of revealing your full Aadhaar details during verification or KYC, you can choose to share only what’s needed-like your name, date of birth or just the QR code. Offline QR verification is also supported, which means you don’t need a physical Aadhaar card every time.

Not only these, the new app now supports up to five Aadhaar profiles on the same device. This makes it convenient for families to manage children’s or elderly parents’ Aadhaar details.
