Wednesday fans have been left gobsmacked at just how brief Lady Gaga’s appearance in season two of the show is after the singer’s overly hyped addition to the cast. The Poker Face hitmaker was part of a series of stars added to the show’s credits, with the likes of Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd and Billie Piper – all of whom appear in the first part of the season.
Details of Lady Gaga’s appearance were kept under wraps at Netflix HQ with her role as Rosaline Rotwood held back until the second part of the season. Rosaline was described as a ‘legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday’ but it seems she was only important enough to warrant the briefest of scenes in the sixth episode.
In a scene she shares with Jenna Ortega alone, Gaga appears as Rotwood with bleached brows and an ethereal white dress as she tells Wednesday Addams off for entering her chamber. However, fans haven’t taken issue with the actress’ performance, they are more frustrated by its length with many pointing out the hyped appearance barely lasted two minutes, the Metro reports.
Taking to X after the second batch of episodes dropped this week, one fan wrote alongside a crying emoji: “Lady Gaga’s appearance in Wednesday season 2 is a minute and fifty seconds long.”
Another echoed: “I knew Lady Gaga’s cameo in Wednesday was going to be short but god damn she appeared for 70 SECONDS or smth. If I was Gaga and they made me do full glam for a character just to have a minute of screentime I’d be p***ed.’
Someone else wrote: “Gaga appearing for only 2 mins in the series hahahahahaha”.
Meanwhile a fourth added: “Gaga’s cameo on Wednesday was really a lil glimpse of screen time….”
However, her one scene was not technically the only contribution she made as Gaga’s new track Dead Dance also features in the show in a scene clearly attempting to replicate season one’s viral dance moment, but this time starring Emma Myers and show newcomer Evie Templeton.
Wednesday co-creator Alfred Gough announced that Gaga’s guest appearance happened as a result of last season’s viral dance, with moves inspired by Siouxsie Sioux and Bob Fosse, among others, which TikTokers set to her deep cut track Bloody Mary and was credited with the show becoming a smash hit.
Gough told The Hollywood Reporter: “She was interested, we were interested. But she’s Lady Gaga, she’s very busy. So we were able to work out a character for her to play, a time for her to come and do it.
“We all know she’s an amazing actress, so we were just thrilled that she could come and play in the sandbox.”

Meanwhile, Ortega said Gaga was ‘unbelievably sweet and giving’.
She did however tease that Gaga’s screen appearance might have been a brief affair as she told E! News: “To be able to spend a day with her shooting was an absolute dream.”
In the same interview, Catherine Zeta-Jones added: “I think just having her presence on the isle of Ireland just lifted everybody up. She’s a queen. She’s on the level to be in her presence for any amount of time is very memorable.”
