Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Assembly has approved the Pakistan Army Amendment Bill 2025, the Air Force Amendment Bill 2025, and the Navy Amendment Bill 2025, marking significant changes to Pakistan’s defense laws.
These bills were passed by the assembly after detailed discussions and consultations, with a majority vote in favor. The amendments aim to introduce necessary changes to the rules and regulations of Pakistan’s three armed forces (Army, Air Force, and Navy) to enhance their performance and efficiency.
The Minister of Defence stated that these amendments are aimed at making military institutions more effective, in line with government policies, by reforming the structure and operations of the armed forces. The amendments include recommendations related to the promotion standards for military officers, the procedures for new appointments, and improvements in internal administrative matters within the forces.
The Defence Minister further emphasized that the approval of these bills will strengthen Pakistan’s defense capabilities and enhance the country’s preparedness. He added that these reforms would help align Pakistan’s defense strategy with modern challenges.
Once approved by the Senate, these amendments will become part of the constitution and will serve as a milestone for the development and administrative improvement of the armed forces.
Following the approval of these defense-related bills, the government is preparing further measures to ensure the country’s security remains robust.
On the other hand, the opposition in the National Assembly raised objections to the bills and staged protests, including chanting slogans in the chamber. The opposition voiced concerns over certain aspects of the amendments, but despite these objections, the passage of the bills is seen as a step towards making essential constitutional changes.
