Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa, on Wednesday, performed the ground breaking ceremony of N4.47 billion feeder road project in Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area of the state.
This is contained in a statement by his media aide, Hamisu Mohammed-Gumel.
Namadi also unveiled viable infrastructure development projects in the area, including a primary healthcare centre, a water scheme and a Tsangaya model school under the state’s Almajiri education reform initiative.
He inaugurated the construction of 28.2 kilometres Babban Sara – Malam Bako – Shabaru-Kirgi-Albasu Feeder road, designed to connect over 60 communities and enhance socio-economic development.
The governor said the project underscored his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development as a key driver of economic growth, social inclusion and improved living standards.
Namadi visited Sule Tankarkar in continuation of the state government’s weekly citizens engagement tagged: “Gwamnati da Jama’a,” meaning “Government and the People.”
The programme aims to provide a platform for government accountability and grassroots participation in governance.
“We are today in Sule Tankarkar LGA, the 23rd in the series of this programme. The essence is to tell our people what we have done within two years and to listen to their feedback on ongoing projects.
“It also gives us the opportunity to collect inputs for our future budgets. This is because true governance is about service to the people.
“And the essence of government is to work for the people, to help and empower them. That is why we are submitting ourselves to the citizens for assessment so that we can learn, improve and make amends where necessary,” Namadi said in the statement.
While lauding President Bola Tinubu’s social and economic reforms, Namadi commended the people for their support to the government.
He further said the state has been selected among the six pilot states for the revived National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, recently approved by President Tinubu.
“The federal government, under President Tinubu’s leadership, has taken bold decisions to improve the lives of Nigerians.
“Now, states and local governments are getting more resources to work for the people. Jigawa voters remain solidly behind the President ahead of the 2027 election.” (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
