Acting National Assembly President Cheam Yeap urged the Kingdom’s newly appointed ambassadors to promote the government’s policies and achievements abroad, particularly to attract investors and encourage more people from those countries to visit and invest in Cambodia.
Yeap made these remarks on Tuesday while the ambassadors paid a courtesy visit before their departure for their diplomatic missions to the Republic of Korea, the Arab Republic of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Morocco, the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the African Union, and Oman, according to the news statement of the National Assembly (NA).
The two new ambassadors are Khuon Phon Rattanak, appointed as Cambodia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, and Som Visal, appointed as Cambodia’s Ambassador to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Algeria, Ethiopia, the African Union, and Oman.
Yeap described their appointments as an important responsibility, stressing that the ambassadors must uphold Cambodia’s national interests, promote its cultural identity, and enhance the nation’s image and prestige on the international stage.
“Please continue to promote the policies and achievements of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) to the world, especially to attract more investors and people from those countries to invest in and visit Cambodia,” Yeap emphasised.
He added that the ambassadors have a multifaceted role, including covering political, parliamentary, economic, cultural, religious, and tourism diplomacy, in line with the policies of the Royal Government during the 7th legislative term of the National Assembly, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Acting National Assembly President also reminded the ambassadors to pay close attention to Cambodian citizens and students living, working, and studying abroad, and to provide them with necessary support to ensure their well-being.
On their part, the two ambassadors, Khuon Phon Rattanak and Som Visal, pledged to adhere to Cambodia’s foreign policy, safeguard national interests, and ensure the safety of Cambodian citizens overseas.
