The mystery winner of the Christmas Powerball draw has been found, with an Adelaide woman taking home $20m.
The Hackham woman received the “shock of her life” after checking her lottery ticket on Friday morning and discovering she was the winner more than a week after the numbers in Powerball draw 1545 were drawn.
She has collected the entire $20m jackpot.
“My hands are shaking! I can’t believe it!” the woman exclaimed when her prize was confirmed by an official from The Lott.
“Honestly, you often wonder what people feel like when they win this much money. It’s incredible. I’m shaking like a leaf.”
She said she had “no idea” she was the winner.
“It’s been in my purse the whole time, but I had a lot going on this week so hadn’t got around to checking it,” she said.
“I’d heard that a winning ticket has been sold and hadn’t been claimed. I had a bit of a smile on my face just in case it was me, but never in million years would I have thought I’d won $20m.”
The woman said she planned to use the money to help out family members and wanted to give some to charity.
“A lot of people could do a lot of good with this money. I always like to give where I can, no matter what amount. Now I can give a little more,” she said.
The winning entry was purchased at Colonnades Lotto Kiosk at Noarlunga Centre.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1545 were 7, 23, 29, 20, 11, 16 and 17.
The Powerball number was 17.
