Mumbai Crime News: 22-Year-Old Man Arrested For Stealing Cash & Jewellery Worth ₹40 Lakh From Friend’s House In Mira Road

Mumbai: A 22-year-old man and his accomplice were arrested for stealing Rs 5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 35 lakh from a friend’s house in Mira Road, Mumbai, on Monday. The accused, Kailas Bhagraj Patel, is a resident of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and had come to Mumbai claiming he was attending job interviews.

The 60-year-old Nutan Surjit Dheer, a resident of Mira Road, filed the complaint. She said Patel, who was her son’s friend, had been staying at their house while preparing for job trials, according to a Hindustan Times report.

According to police, on June 15, Patel told them he was going back to Jodhpur and left the house around 10:30 PM while Dheer and her son were attending a satsang in the neighbourhood. On June 20, Dheer noticed that the locker was missing and reported the matter to the Kashimira Police. Following her complaint, police registered a case against Patel under Sections 305(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as reported.

According to the report, the police officer mentioned that, “On checking CCTV footage of the building, we found that when Patel was leaving the premises on June 15, he took the safe with him”, The accused was noticed getting back inside the car and also the number plate of the vehicle was not visible, the officer added.

CA Arrested In ₹2.4 Crore Car Loan Fraud; Busting Large-Scale Scam Racket

In other news related to the Mumbai crime, the Kalachowky police station arrested the proclaimed Chartered Accountant for a large-scale loan fraud racket on Sunday. The fraud was over Rs 2.4 crore, and the accused were identified as Rahul Giri Shah and the other accused, alias Sachin and Saurabh.

The complainant stated, “They took advantage of our trust and left us burdened with loans for cars we never used, “as reported by Hindustan Times. Initially, Shah was arrested by the Achole Police (Vasai) in connection with a similar offence. However, following Mestri’s statement, the Kalachowky Police took custody of Shah and booked him under Sections 316, 318(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.
