Starting from September 1, an electronic monitoring system that will allow the tracking of migrants will be put into use in Moscow, Interfax magazine reported with reference to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, APA reports.
The report states that the new system will make it possible to find out the whereabouts of migrants.
According to Sergey Sobyanin, the Moscow government has received permission “to carry out a number of experiments in the Moscow region” for the purpose of keeping migrants under control. The mayor noted that biometric control of migrants has been implemented at all airports. In addition, an “electronic card” containing all relevant information about the migrants will be issued to them within the territory of Moscow.
“Through the QR code, the police can learn everything about that person – when they arrived, for how long, where they work, whether there are any migration violations or not. If the red light is on, the police must detain them. If it’s green, there are no questions,” the mayor emphasized.
