A monster mum has allegedly neglected her son so severely that his legs rotted away and required amputation.
Catiga Wren Arnett, 54, was arrested over the horrific abuse inflicted upon her adopted son. Police in Missouri discovered her adopted son, who suffers from Spina bifida, living in appalling conditions, according to court documents.
Her son, who has the mental capacity of a 10 year old, resided with Arnett in Noel, approximately five hours from Kansas City. The abuse is believed to have occurred between January 1 and March 7, according to records obtained by the Daily Mail, reports the Mirror.
Her son’s age was not specified in the legal filing, but his condition stems from a birth defect that prevents the spinal cord from closing completely during pregnancy and “rendered him a paraplegic,” the court documents stated.
Paramedics were called to the scene and arrived at Arnett’s home on March 7, where they discovered the son on the bedroom floor wearing an adult nappy, the report said. Authorities said he had a colostomy bag port “but the bag was not present.”
The child had a catheter with an empty bag that was filled with calcified residue, suggesting he “had not urinated for an extended period.” He was transported to Freeman Hospital and then the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute in Columbia, court documents said.
Arnett pleaded guilty on July 10 in McDonald County Circuit Court.

Arnett is scheduled to return to court for a bond hearing on August 13, according to her records. Arnett had previously admitted guilt in 2022 to a miscellaneous health and safety charge, which pertains to a variety of infringements that pose or could potentially pose a risk to the health and safety of others.
Her husband, Steve, was arrested in April 2023 for strangling and kicking a child. According to court documents, he was given two counts of probation for endangering the welfare of a child in the second degree.
