MANILA, Philippines — Rain brought by tropical storm Danas (international name) and the southwest monsoon triggered a landslide in Barangay Virac, Itogon, Benguet on July 4, forcing residents to evacuate, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday.
Of the affected households, five families took shelter at the Acupan Elementary School, which is serving as an evacuation center. Eight other families were accommodated by relatives in nearby communities. The rest are staying temporarily with neighbors or friends while authorities monitor the situation.
Clearing efforts are ongoing.
