
The Minister of Health, Chheang Ra, has directed health officials to enhance their efforts in all circumstances. They should stay alert, especially in border provinces, and focus on public health by properly examining and caring for citizens.
He made these remarks during the Ministry’s second leadership meeting of August, held on August 18 at the Ministry of Health.
The meeting reviewed progress and discussed future work directions. Attendees included the Secretary of State, Deputy Secretary of State, Ministerial Advisors, Director-Generals, Deputy Director-Generals, and heads of central units. The Director of the Phnom Penh Health Department and heads of provincial health departments joined via Zoom.
Ra thanked leaders at all levels, the National Hospital, and medical teams for their dedicated efforts in delivering essential services to people in border provinces.
He commended them for their dedication to public health. He also acknowledged the border provincial health departments and Siem Reap province for their support in high-demand areas, particularly in providing services to both civilians and the armed forces during this challenging time.
The Minister reminded everyone, “In the spirit of patriotism, we must all continue to work hard and come together to fulfil our duties with greater commitment.”
Ra instructed the National Centre and relevant organisations to promote public health more effectively.
He stressed the importance of creating educational materials on infectious diseases, including dengue fever and food poisoning, and disseminating health education messages across all channels.
He said the need to address key health issues, including child nutrition, vaccination programs, and environmental health, through close collaboration with relevant departments.
Finally, the Minister urged leaders across all sectors to align with the Ministry’s and the Royal Government’s policies, ensuring they are effectively implemented and continuously improved within a unified health system.
