CAIRO – 23 November 2025: Millions of Egyptians will head to the polls on Monday and Tuesday for the second phase of the House of Representatives elections, covering key governorates across the country.
Ahmed Bendary, Director of the National Election Authority (NEA), said that 34,611,991 registered voters will choose among 1,316 candidates competing for 142 seats in this phase.
The second phase covers 13 governorates: Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, and South Sinai.
To accommodate the elections, hundreds of schools across the country will temporarily close their doors on Monday and Tuesday, as they are being used as polling stations.
Overseas voting for Egyptians living abroad took place over the past two days at 139 polling stations in 117 countries, part of efforts to accommodate citizens overseas during the second phase.
Inside Egypt, polling will continue on Monday and Tuesday, with results scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, 2 December.
If runoffs are required, voting abroad will take place on 1-2 December for the first phase and 15-16 December for the second phase.
Meanwhile, runoff elections inside the country, if needed, are set for 3-4 December for the first phase and 17-18 December for the second.
The House of Representatives is composed of 568 elected members, with 284 chosen through the closed-list system and 284 through the individual system, alongside a number of members appointed by the president.
Under the list system, the National List for Egypt, which brings together several political parties including Mostaqbal Watan and Humat Al-Watan, both supportive of government policies, is running unopposed in all four list-based districts.
The list must secure at least 5% of the total valid votes to be declared successful.
