Another patient has been discharged from the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) today (30 July) following the tragic jet crash at the Milestone school campus, bringing the total number of discharged patients to five.

The released patient, Farzana Yasmin, 45, is a teacher of Milestone School and College.

Currently, 32 victims are undergoing treatment at the burn the institute, with three in critical condition, seven classified as severe and the rest receiving treatment in general wards or cabins, said NIBPS Director Prof Dr Nasir Uddin during a press briefing today.

“There have been no new deaths in the past three days,” he said.

He also noted that 14 of the 32 admitted patients are showing signs of improvement. “The patient who had been on a ventilator is now breathing on their own,” he added.

Dr Nasir further stated that a total of 158 minor and major surgeries have been performed on the victims since the incident and announced that there will be no more formal briefings at the institute, and daily updates will now be disseminated through press releases.

The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) fighter jet crash at the Milestone school campus has so far claimed 34 lives and left more than 150 injured.

The health ministry revised the death toll on 27 July.

Earlier, on 24 July, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) identified five individuals who were charred to death in the crash.

According to the CID, the Forensic Department collected 11 DNA samples from six unidentified bodies and five body parts preserved at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

These samples were compared against DNA profiles collected from 11 members of five missing families between 22 and 23 July.
