I’M writing this on a Sunday and was at church today. You probably know about Father Alvarez who is our favorite priest if you’ve been following this column for a while. We enjoy attending his masses because aside from his homilies, which he keeps light but educational and entertaining, he also has an impressive turn of phrase which is highlighted by his flawless grammar. “Turn of phrase” is the way someone expresses himself or herself through words. Oh, you should hear him speak. He used a metaphor during his homily today and every time I hear that word, I’m reminded of my favorite movie, “The Shawshank Redemption.” As the title denotes, it is a story about redemption. This is not a movie review, so I would leave out the rest of the details and let this serve as a sign for you to watch it if you haven’t yet. The ending is my favorite metaphor. Let me know your thoughts once you get the chance to watch it. Hit me up on my socials. Enjoy the movie.
