MetaMask launched Transaction Shield, a premium service that protects users from on-chain transaction losses of up to $10,000 per month and provides 24/7 priority support. The tool acts as an additional layer on top of the wallet’s existing security measures and covers transactions classified as safe by MetaMask’s automated systems.
The service costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year, includes a 14-day free trial, and is currently available through the desktop browser extension, with plans to expand to the mobile app. Eligible transactions include DeFi swaps, lending and borrowing, NFT minting and sales on trusted marketplaces, and verified airdrop claims across networks such as Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Base, Polygon, BSC, and Sei.
Transaction Shield does not cover compromised wallets, market losses, or protocol-level exploits. Users can file claims within 21 days of the incident, and reimbursements are processed within 15 business days and paid out in mUSD. The initiative marks a major step forward in wallet security offerings, preserving MetaMask’s non-custodial model while giving users stronger protection
