MetaMask, Phantom, WalletConnect, and Backpack have teamed up with SEAL to create a decentralized, real-time phishing defense network aimed at protecting crypto users from increasingly sophisticated attacks.
The initiative, announced on Oct. 21, is designed to function as a “decentralized immune system” for crypto security, allowing participants worldwide to contribute to preventing major phishing attacks. SEAL will use its Verifiable Phishing Reports technology to automatically validate and share user-submitted phishing reports across all participating wallets in real time. This tool, launched last week, allows users to submit cryptographically verified evidence of malicious websites, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
“By forming this coalition, we’re able to create an end-to-end pipeline leveraging crypto’s decentralized network to protect the entire community,” SEAL said in the announcement.
Targeting evolving crypto drainers
The network is a response to the rising threat of crypto drainers—malicious scripts or toolkits like Inferno Drainer, Angel Drainer, and Ace Drainer—which steal crypto assets from wallets and are often sold or shared on underground forums. These drainers continually evolve to bypass traditional security measures, lowering the barrier to entry for attackers and enabling large-scale thefts of digital assets.
“Drainers are a constant cat-and-mouse game,” said Ohm Shah, Security Researcher at MetaMask. “Working with SEAL allows wallet teams to be more agile and apply research in real time, effectively disrupting the drainer infrastructure.”
With this network, SEAL expects faster detection and neutralization of phishing threats, providing users with more robust, real-time protection against one of crypto’s most persistent security challenges.
