Meghan Markle is set to make a shock return to acting, eight years after announcing her retirement just before her engagement to Prince Harry.
She will reportedly join Oscar winner Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding to film scenes for Close Personal Friends.
But the role is not expected to stretch her acting ability too far, with reports she will be playing herself.
“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves,” a studio source told The Sun.
“She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right.
“It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set.
“Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement.
“Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy.”
Meghan was due to arrive on set in Pasadena, Los Angeles for the Amazon MGM Studios production on Wednesday, local time.
Not much is known about the plot of the film except that it is about two couples, one famous and one not.
Meghan, who started out as a briefcase model for the US version of Deal or No Deal in 2006, shot to stardom as Rachel Zane in legal drama Suits, appearing in seasons from 2011 to 2017.
She also appeared in movies, 2011’s Horrible Bosses and 2010’s Remember Me.
Since marrying Prince Harry, the Duchess has not done any acting but has appeared on the small screen in her lifestyle TV series With Love, Meghan.
