The Matildas family has grown again with veteran Emily van Egmond and wife Kat Thompson welcoming their first child.
The couple married in December last year and announced Kat’s pregnancy in April.
“Welcome to the world Maddix Louise Van Egmond,” the couple wrote.
Matildas teammates rushed to celebrate the news from the team’s camp ahead of a friendly with England on Tuesday night (Wednesday AEDT).
Sam Kerr and fiancee Kristie Mewis, Charli Grant, Chloe Logarzo, Kyah Simon, Courtney Nevin and many more shared comments.
“The princess is here,” Caitlin Foord said.
Teagan Micah wrote: “Congratulations!!! Sooo happy for you both.”
Mackenzie Arnold said: “We love Maddix so much.”

Van Egmond, the daughter of former Socceroos player and A-League coach Gary, is the second Matildas player to welcome a child in recent weeks.
Long-time teammate Tameka Yallop and wife Kirsty, a former New Zealand international star, announced the safe arrival of their second daughter Nova.
Kirsty retired in football in 2018 and gave birth to their first daughter Harley in 2020.
Earlier this year Kerr became a mother when American international Mewis gave birth to their first child, son Jagger, in May.
Katrina Gorry gave birth to daughter Harper in 2021 and last year welcomed her second child when partner Clara Markstedt gave birth to son Koby.
Van Egmond, based in England after joining Leicester City in September, had been named in the Matildas squad for this week’s friendlies before focusing on family.
The 2-1 win over Wales marked Kerr’s return to the team after two years out with a troubled ACL recovery, and she could now take the captaincy for the clash with England.

“We’ve missed her over the last two years. She’s our captain, she’s our goal scorer for the most part, she’s always a massive threat,” Steph Catley said.
“She’s been a staple in our team for many, many years. Just to have around the group, she’s incredible. Having her around and back on the pitch is amazing.”
Kerr was injured during a training camp with her club Chelsea in January 2024.
She finally returned to club football this season, but with her minutes managed carefully had not started a match until lining up against Wales.
“She’s worked so so hard to get to this point,” added Catley.
“It’s been a really hard time for her. As a friend, it’s just nice to see her get the rewards of hard work and be back and be healthy and I think for world football, it’s nice to see one of the best players in the world out there again.”
