Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for the Wonder Man finale.

The MCU has received a lot of criticism in the last six years, but when the Multiverse Saga continues frustrating trends, it’s plain to see why some people are struggling to connect. From the spectacular highs that were Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, to the shaky ground of the Multiverse Saga, the MCU has changed a lot in recent years.

And despite growing excitement and anticipation for the release of Avengers: Doomsday later this year, which is broadly being marketed as a sequel to Avengers: Endgame, the MCU as a whole has a lot of issues it still needs to resolve. But for whatever reason, many of the latest projects leave fans with more questions than answers, as seen again in Wonder Man.

Wonder Man Does Nothing To Confirm Where And When The Character Will Return

Now, don’t get me wrong, Wonder Man is a spectacular standalone superhero show that is filled with emotion, intrigue, and a captivating story of unlikely friends, but the show’s final episode continues a tradition of Marvel’s that has become increasingly prevalent in the last few years; it leaves the story wide open.

As in, rather than suggest or hint at a future appearance of the central character, or even include a post-credit scene to outright confirm that something else is in the works, the show just ends. Simon Williams has done what he came to do, and flown off into the sunset with his new best friend, Trevor Slattery. But there’s a lack of certainty with whether this character will ever be seen again.

The MCU Has Had A Lot Of Projects End With Uncertain Endings In The Multiverse Saga

Throughout the Multiverse Saga, we have seen several characters introduced, only to completely disappear from view (except for cameo roles in animated shows like What If…?). Shang-Chi hasn’t come back since his debut, the Eternals are all MIA, She-Hulk is gone, possibly for good, and while we know Vision will return in VisionQuest, there has been nothing from that character since he flew away at the end of WandaVision.

In the Infinity Saga, there were several films that saw the heroes team up and progress through a shared narrative, but the Multiverse Saga lacks so much as to even toy with that idea in a post-credits clip. Hopefully, Avengers: Doomsday will be able to turn that around, but Wonder Man is just the latest in a long line of characters whose fate is entirely uncertain in the recent MCU.
