The Avalanche blockchain surpassed one million daily transactions twice within a week, marking its first time reaching this milestone since February 2024.
Transactions on Avalanche exceeded one million on both June 1 and June 7. For the week starting June 2, total transactions hit 5.8 million, the highest weekly volume seen since early 2024, according to blockchain analytics firm Nansen.
Avalanche attributed this surge in activity largely to MapleStory Universe, a Web3 gaming ecosystem built on its platform. The first game in the series, MapleStory N, launched on May 15.
Prior to the release of this side-scrolling online role-playing game, Avalanche’s daily transactions rarely exceeded 500,000 in 2025.

MapleStory emerged as a cultural phenomenon among gamers in the 2000s and early 2010s, acting as an early metaverse where players could socialize, make friends, and even form romantic relationships.
Its original Web3 iteration was among the first to showcase virtual economies, in-game currencies, tradable items, and user-generated content — features that blockchain technology now seeks to improve. The franchise continues to hold a special place in the hearts of millennials throughout South Korea and Southeast Asia.
Veteran game developer Nexon has joined Avalanche
The excitement surrounding MapleStory Universe is further fueled by its developer, Nexon—a Tokyo-listed South Korean gaming giant and the world’s 21st-largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, according to data from BitcoinTreasuries.NET.
As of June 9, Nexon holds 1,717 BTC, which it acquired in April 2021 and has retained since.
The MapleStory launch also introduced Nexon’s Nexpace Coin (NXPC), the main currency of MapleStory Universe.
However, despite early enthusiasm, NXPC has struggled to sustain its momentum. After peaking at an all-time high of $3.77 shortly after launch, its value has dropped 64% to $1.34 at the time of writing.

Avalanche Gains Traction as a Leading Gaming Blockchain
Avalanche has been building momentum in the Web3 gaming space since late 2024, driven in part by the launch of Off The Grid, a shooter built on its GUNZ subnet. The game signaled a strategic shift toward appealing to mainstream gamers rather than just crypto-native audiences—an approach that also extends to its native token, AVAX.
On May 14, the day before MapleStory N launched, AVAX was trading at around $26. Since then, it has dropped to $20, well below its yearly peak of $54 in December.
