A man is fighting for his life following a serious crash in West Derby. Emergency services were called to Mab Lane in Liverpool just before 5.40am on Friday, February 27, after reports a Toyota Yaris had collided with a Peugeot 108 and a wall.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and road policing officers remain at the scene carrying out inquiries.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to a dog walker who reportedly called an ambulance shortly after the crash. They believe the person may have vital information that could assist their investigation.
A large police cordon was put in place while police carried out initial enquiries. The road has since been opened.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has further information is urged to contact police.
Roads Policing Inspector Ian Cowell said: “We are keen to speak with the female dog walker who was on Mab Lane at the time of the incident and called an ambulance from another person’s mobile.
“We are keen to stress that the woman is not in any trouble and did the right thing in contacting emergency services. We would like them to come forward to assist with our enquiries.
“I urge the woman to please identify yourself and contact us as a matter of urgency.
“I would also appeal to anyone else who witnessed the collision on Mab Lane at 5.40am today or who was driving in the area and has any dashcam footage of what happened to contact us. Any information or footage you have could be vital to our ongoing investigation.”
