A man in his 40s has died following an accident at a motocross track in Cork on Sunday.
CorkBeo reports the man had been riding a motorbike at the Vernon Mount motocross track on the southside of the city when he was involved in a crash at around 12:45pm on Sunday afternoon.
The man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal incident which occurred at a premises on the South Ring Road in Cork city this afternoon, Sunday 21 September 2025.
“At approximately 12.45pm Gardaí were alerted to the incident involving a motorcycle at a sporting event. A male motorcyclist, aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The Coroner has been informed. The scene is being preserved for a technical examination.”
