When I think about what 2025 meant for MedTech World, one word comes to mind: connection. It has been a year defined by collaboration, growth, and the forging of bridges between innovators across continents. Watching Malta emerge as a destination for global MedTech dialogue has been both inspiring and deeply rewarding, especially as we continue to expand our partnerships with leaders in the United States and beyond.
At MedTech World, we’ve always believed that progress in healthcare begins with people – people who dare to innovate, collaborate, and envision a healthier world. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the brightest minds in medical technology, helping build the partnerships that make this vision possible. From startups looking for guidance and investment to global corporations seeking trusted collaborators, our community continues to grow stronger with every connection.
Our journey across 2025 has taken us from Dubai, Houston, San Jose, Hong Kong, and Singapore to Malta, each event serving as a meeting point for pioneers eager to share ideas and spark collaboration. But Malta holds something truly special. It’s more than just the home of MedTech World: it’s becoming a hub of MedTech excellence, a place where innovation meets accessibility and collaboration feels genuine.
Working closely with the US MedTech industry, I’ve seen remarkable enthusiasm for what Malta offers. American companies are increasingly recognizing the island as a gateway to Europe and a fertile ground for partnerships. Malta’s business-friendly environment, its growing life sciences infrastructure, and its supportive government policies make it an ideal base for both startups and established players looking to expand globally.
It’s rewarding to see U.S. investors and innovators arrive in Malta and immediately sense the energy here — the sense of possibility that MedTech Malta embodies. Each year, the conversations deepen, and the collaborations born here continue long after the conference ends.
Across all our events this year, one theme resonated: collaboration is the true engine of MedTech progress.
At MedTech World, we don’t just organize conferences; we create environments where meaningful partnerships can thrive. As Paul Grand, CEO of MedTech Innovator, put it:
“Investment deals don’t happen overnight. They are the result of relationships built over years, and MedTech World has a terrific reputation for creating an environment that’s especially conducive to enabling high-quality interactions between startups and investors.”
That’s exactly what we aim to do: foster connections that last. The partnerships we’ve cultivated this year, especially between international investors and emerging MedTech founders, are proof of how impactful these relationships can be.
One of the many moments that stood out for me came after our Singapore gathering, when Akhil Bheda, Director at KPMG Singapore, shared: “The feedback from speakers, investors, and participants has been overwhelmingly positive. The team’s professionalism, energy, and attention to detail made the collaboration seamless. We’re already seeing strong post-event engagement and interest from companies and investors who attended.”
This is the kind of momentum we strive to build, a ripple effect of innovation and opportunity that extends far beyond any single event.
MedTech Malta has grown into something much larger than a conference; it’s now a symbol of Malta’s rise in global MedTech. Every November, the island transforms into a space buzzing with ideas, ambition, and community. Entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors gather here not just to exchange business cards but to share values and visions.
Hearing feedback from attendees reinforces why Malta’s role in this ecosystem matters. Anna Lisa Somera, CEO of Rhaeos, described it beautifully: “Attending MedTech Malta was an unforgettable experience, where I had the privilege of joining brilliant minds on two entrepreneurship panels and the honor of receiving the Best Patient Impact Award on behalf of Rhaeos. The intimate, collaborative environment fostered meaningful connections, inspiring conversations, and an even greater passion for driving innovation in MedTech.”
And from Hirak Parikh, Principal Venture Investments at Johnson & Johnson, we heard: “MedTech Malta brings together entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders in an intimate setting. I was highly impressed by the immersive experience, networking opportunities, informative panel discussions, and the presence of high-profile speakers, including a head of state.”
These reflections remind me that Malta isn’t just hosting innovation; it’s nurturing it. The island has become a place where visionaries from around the world feel at home, and where MedTech isn’t just discussed but lived and built.
As I look toward 2026, my optimism is grounded in the relationships we’ve built and the momentum we’ve achieved. Malta’s transformation into a MedTech hub is not a distant goal; it’s happening right now, powered by people who believe in the impact of collaboration.
For me, working at the intersection of regions — connecting Malta with the United States, Europe, and Asia — has reinforced a simple truth: healthcare innovation knows no borders. What unites us is a shared mission to make healthcare smarter, more inclusive, and more humane.
At MedTech World, we’ll continue building the platforms that make these collaborations possible. Together, we’re not only growing a global network, we’re helping Malta stand proudly as a central meeting point for the world’s MedTech community.
And as every year reminds us, real progress begins with connection – something Malta continues to inspire in all of us.
