KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Digital is examining key components to formulate policies and directions for Malaysia’s blockchain technology development.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo stated these components include blockchain adoption to improve government administration efficiency, security, and transparency.
He said blockchain application through tokenisation will be studied particularly in asset management and capital market development areas.
“The government is developing a regulatory framework for asset tokenisation in an integrated manner through the Securities Commission Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia,” he told the Dewan Rakyat.
Gobind was responding to Syerleena Abdul Rashid regarding National Blockchain Roadmap 2021-2025 initiatives and asset tokenisation regulatory framework plans.
The ministry has established a National Blockchain Policy Task Force comprising public and private sector blockchain technology experts.
This task force aims to foster synergy in developing comprehensive and inclusive national blockchain policy and direction.
Responding to workforce preparation concerns, Gobind said local worker readiness in blockchain is being studied within National Blockchain Policy development.
He emphasised inclusive education, industry-needs training, and global talent attraction through government-industry-academia collaboration.
“Key strategies being considered include empowering higher education institutions and strengthening workforce readiness and industry matchmaking,” he added. – Bernama
