Makinde reaffirms commitment to infrastructure development

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has stated that his administration will remain steadfast in delivering infrastructure that supports its vision of expanding the state’s economy and lifting its people from poverty to prosperity.

The governor, in a statement on Monday by his Special Adviser (Media), Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, said he had been governing with the fear of God, noting that he had no godfather except God.

He added that the administration would remain committed to serving the people until his last day in office.

Makinde stated this on Monday during a courtesy visit to his office by a delegation of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), led by the Continental Overseer, Pastor Adeola Mensah.

The governor maintained that his promise to focus on inner roads after connecting all zones of the state in his first term remained on course.

He said the government had already approved contracts for the construction of road facilities within the Oluyole Industrial Estate.

The governor, who noted that his administration remained dedicated to the continuity of government policies, assured that the project would be completed in due course.

He also called on the body of Christ to continue interceding for the state and the nation, saying spiritual support remained imperative for peace, progress, and development.

He said, “Let me, on behalf of the government and the people of Oyo State, welcome you to the seat of government. I understand that the Continental Headquarters will be here in Ibadan. So, we will be seeing more of you and your team.

“As I always say, this is an administration that came into being without any godfather. What has sustained us has been the prayers of our fathers of faith in Oyo State.

“So, please continue to remember us and our country in your prayers. We often think what is happening elsewhere is far removed from us, but in reality, it is not. We need sustained prayers to assist this country.

“As you prepare to settle into the Continental Headquarters, whatever we can do, and whatever I can do personally, I will be ready and willing to support.”

Responding to Mensah’s request for attention to roads around the Oluyole Industrial Estate, Makinde said the project had been approved and would be completed, stressing that his administration would not abandon projects.

“On the road you mentioned, I believe we have just awarded the contract. Yes, it has been awarded. Our resources are limited, so we commit to projects methodically to avoid abandoning them.

“I challenge anyone to point out any project we have abandoned. It is not possible because we think through projects from start to finish. This project has been awarded, and we will ensure it is completed,” he said.

Earlier, Mensah commended the governor for his developmental strides and conveyed the goodwill of the RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, assuring Makinde of the church’s continued prayers and support.

She said, “I bring you greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and from our father in the Lord, Pastor E.A. Adeboye.

“He asked us to convey his prayers, support, ad appreciation for the work you are doing in Oyo State and for ensuring the state is thriving.

“We have observed that roads across Ibadan are good, the people are blessed, nd things are thriving.”

Government officials present included the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo; Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi; Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni; Commissioner for Lands, Hon. Akin Funmilayo Williams; Commissioner for Education, Hon. Segun Olayiwola, and others.

Members of the RCCG delegation included Pastor T.T. Mensah; Pastor (Mrs) Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, Regional Pastor, Region 42; Pastor Wale Popoola, Regional Pastor, Region 60; Pastor Kunmi Sodeinde; Pastor Goke Kuti of Region 21; Head of Protocol, Pastor Niyi Bewaji; Provincial Pastor, Dr Segun Olatunji; and Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Tribune Titles, Elder Edward Dickson.
