A POPULAR brewery is undergoing a big refurbishment as it plans to host a series of fun activities and events on top of its brilliant beer selection.
Black Box Brewery is launching the “Hangar”, an expansion of their current taproom which will look to host live music, games, beer festivals and more.
The site on Aviation Way has been open for four years and its distinctive aeronautical theme will continue with the refurbishment, along with their brewed-on-site cask ales.

A range of craft beers will be added to the selection at the venue to allow customers a wide array of options and appeal to all types of visitors.
Director Mark Dane said the new space will have a positive impact on the business.
He said: “We want to upgrade the taproom and attract a wider audience, which is why we are including a dart board, shove ha’penny and the rest.”

Mr Dane said the brewery backs on to the Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park and is in the right spot for a post-walk pint.
“People can actually walk to the brewery,” he said.
“We are family and dog-friendly too, so people can come straight from the park.”
He added live sports, quiz nights, brewery tours and raves to the list of what the Hangar bar will be hosting in the coming months, with plans in place to enter a darts league on the horizon.

“We also do beer swaps with local breweries – if there is a festival in Colchester for example, we will share. The brewing community is quite collaborative,” said Mr Dane.
The business, co-owned by Tom Ryan, Chris Barrow and Mr Dane, will be holding a launch party on Friday March 13, beginning at 6pm with the bar open from 12pm on the same day.
