Mahama urges Ghana youth to take ownership of ‘Reset Agenda’ – Ghana Business News

President John Dramani Mahama has urged the youth to take ownership of the Government’s Reset Agenda, a reform programme aimed at revitalising the economy, strengthening governance and promoting social inclusion.

The Reset Agenda, launched in 2025, focuses on stabilising the cedi, lowering inflation, investing in infrastructure and creating a 24-hour economy.

In a New Year message broadcast to the nation on Thursday night, President Mahama reiterated that national development required active citizen participation.

“Governments do not build nations alone. They do that with the citizenry,” he stated.

The President urged young people to recognise their central role in shaping Ghana’s future.

“You are not the leaders of tomorrow. You are the leaders of today. Take ownership of this Reset Agenda. Innovate. Create. Build. Ghana needs your energy, your ideas and your commitment,” he said.

President Mahama called on entrepreneurs and business leaders to invest in Ghana and build enterprises that created jobs and wealth for themselves and the economy.

He pledged to maintain a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and urged them to take advantage of opportunities created by government policies.

Addressing civil society organisations, the media and watchdog institutions, the President urged them to continue holding the Government accountable, noting that a vibrant democracy depended on their critical voices.

“We may not always agree, but we shall always respect the role you play in strengthening our nation,” he said.

President Mahama also called on traditional leaders and faith-based organisations to help build social cohesion and national unity, describing them as custodians of values and anchors of their communities.

He urged public servants to uphold integrity, efficiency and dedication, describing public service as a noble calling.

“The people’s trust in government depends on your daily conduct,” he stated.

The President said the diaspora community remained Ghana’s global ambassadors and encouraged them to contribute their skills, resources and networks to national development.

“We are one people with a shared destiny. Whether you voted for me or not, whether you supported the NDC or not, we are all Ghanaians, and this reset is for all of us,” President Mahama said.

He stressed that there was only one Ghana, founded on the sacrifices of the nation’s forebears, and urged citizens to reject divisive politics and embrace nation-building.

“Let us disagree without being disagreeable. Let us compete in the marketplace of ideas without treating our opponents as enemies,” he added.
