Motorists are facing long delays on the M1 southbound in Leicestershire following a collision involving a car and a jackknifed trailer. Highways England said recovery is en-route to the scene through heavy traffic, with traffic currently passing via the hard shoulder.
The incident has occurred at junction 22, near Markfield, on the A50 towards Coalville and Ashby. Three lanes are blocked, with cameras confirming that lanes two, three and four of four remain closed, according to traffic monitoring service Inrix.
Drivers are facing delays of around 45 minutes on approach to the junction as a result of the collision. Highways England said recovery vehicles are making their way to the scene, though heavy traffic is slowing their progress.
