Their wedding in 2023 was a magical event that beautifully incorporated both Chinese and Armenian traditions – from food to festivities and even dance.
“The cherry on top was an Armenian wedding dance that we did. Everyone else joined and I couldn’t believe our Chinese friends could dance so smoothly considering that they have never seen such dance before. Several rounds of group dances really made my day,” Ani recalled.
But like any couple, Ani and Dani faced challenges, especially in running their floral business “In Bloom.”
“More than challenges, we prefer to call them ‘surprising moments.’ We simply realized that those differences stem from our backgrounds, so it’s alright to think differently. The key is to focus on what matters, rather than who’s right,” she said.
Despite their cultural differences, Ani and Dani share a love for healthy living and motivate each other to stay fit. They celebrate each other’s cultural holidays with great joy and their language skills have improved significantly since they met – Ani’s Chinese has improved dramatically, and Dani is doing a great job learning Armenian.
“Both China and Armenia share profound history and ancient culture, and it’s truly a great privilege for us to give and share from both cultures, learn and grow beyond,” Ani shared.
Ani has grown fond of Chinese fashion. Although she hasn’t had many opportunities to dress up in traditional attire, when she does spot the chance, she’ll make the most of it.
“I love Chinese traditional clothing. I have worn an outfit once in Chongqing and did a photoshoot,” she said. “It was quite a pleasant experience. There were lights and lanterns everywhere and I wore a beautiful red dress with stunning embroidery. I loved it.”
