ELYRIA, Ohio – The Lorain County Board of Commissioners is inviting local contractors to take part in housing rehabilitation, neighborhood improvement and public infrastructure projects that benefit low- to moderate-income residents throughout the county.
Interested contractors may attend an upcoming informational session on how to qualify for work through the Lorain County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
The free sessions will guide contractors through the eligibility process for future housing rehabilitation and community improvement projects funded through CDBG and related programs. Attendees will learn how to apply to become an eligible contractor, understand insurance and safety requirements and access available training and certification opportunities.
“Lorain County’s Housing and Community Development programs rely on local contractors to help improve the safety and quality of our neighborhoods,” Commissioner Marty Gallagher said in a new release. “This upcoming session is a great opportunity for small and mid-sized contractors to get involved, understand the requirements, and grow their business through public projects. We want to see more local businesses engaged in this work and benefiting from the investment being made in our communities.”
Sessions will be held on Oct. 29 at Lorain County Community College’s Patsie C. and Dolores Jenee Campana Center, Room PC101. The morning session runs from 7:30-8:30 a.m., and the evening session is scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m.
To participate, contractors must meet specific prequalification standards, including insurance coverage, EPA and Lead Abatement certifications and compliance with equal opportunity employment practices.
